The Tuatahi First Fibre Emerging Excellence Award celebrates an emerging surveying professional who is making a real impact through their passion, initiative and commitment in their work.
We know that attending industry events are hugely beneficial, and we understand that not everyone has the chance to attend. That’s why we’re proud to support a deserving recipient with the opportunity to attend the 2026 Survey and Spatial conference in Auckland.
Whether it’s through fresh ideas, embracing technology, delivering exceptional outcomes or going above and beyond, we want to hear about the people making their mark in the surveying industry.
The recipient will receive:
- Full Survey & Spatial conference registration
- Accommodation at the Cordis Hotel, Auckland
- Flights to Auckland, if applicable

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Tuatahi First Fibre Emerging Excellence Award, nominees must:
- Hold a recognised tertiary qualification in Surveying.
- Have less than five years' professional experience in the surveying or spatial industry at the time of nomination.
- Be currently employed by a New Zealand-based organisation within the surveying or spatial industry.
- Be available to attend the Survey & Spatial NZ Conference in Auckland on the conference dates.
- Be nominated by themselves, a colleague, manager, mentor, or employer.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and making a positive contribution to the surveying and spatial profession.
- Provide two professional referees who can speak to the nominee's achievements, character, and suitability for the award. Referees may be contacted as part of the assessment process.
- Entries close Friday 28 August 2026.
The award is intended to recognise emerging professionals who have demonstrated excellence, initiative, and a genuine passion for the surveying and spatial industry. The successful recipient will be selected based on the quality of their entry rather than technical experience alone.
